Spintax battery could be ready in 2019, analyst says

The electric vehicle battery maker will announce a new model of its next generation electric vehicle that could be powered by a new generation of spintax batteries, the company’s chief executive said on Monday.

Speaking to investors and analysts in New York on a call, Peter Broussard said the company was still trying to decide what it was going to build.

The spintx batteries, which are produced by a joint venture between German and Italian firm SpintX, are a different technology from the more conventional lithium ion batteries used in electric vehicles, Brouessard said.

The batteries are made of a flexible material that can be melted down to form lithium, which can then be used in a battery.

“What we’re going to do is try to go beyond that,” he said.

“It’s not just about making something with a particular name, but to go and do something that has a long term value.

That’s what we’re looking at doing.”

Spintax had said it was aiming to have a battery on the road by 2021.

The announcement comes as the industry is also focused on using technology to develop the technology for electric vehicles.

SpintX said last month it had entered a strategic alliance with electric car maker Tesla to explore ways to make batteries for electric cars.
